so much waste in the clean room....
keeping people alive for longer at the expense of killing us all with waste
(i got the joke sorry)

When I worked for a trucking company they had one of those by the entrance mostly for drivers and shop people. The easier it is to do, the more likely it is that people will do it.

I shall propose an upgrade to the model.

It’s necessary to have these shoe covers sometimes. It’s just wasteful to have bought a machine to do what is the same as putting on your slippers.

understood.........but its not true
(i mean it is true for the sake of needing a clean environment)
but it still all kindsa waste...and at the end of the day we have too many people)

Man, if you think it’s the boot covers that are going to kill us all, I would hate to live inside your head. So many bigger fish to fry. Go ahead and outlaw booties so that we spread disease or launch non-functional satellites. See how much you like THAT world.

I spent a few weeks on-site for work at a place that had Bootie Butlers! They are fickle.

I have used this exact model on job sites nearing completion. See how the bootie in the picture is half-way off to the side and clearly not sitting in the right spot, ready for a foot? That is how they are 90% of the time.
When it works perfectly though, it’s so satisfying.

I believe you. I mean, you can see one misaligned in this pic. Funny thing is, the ARU manager thought is was a waste too.

I wonder if this would work for someone that has to wear booties without shoes. I think of it because when my son was born I discovered I couldn’t fit into the surgical booties the hospital provided with my shoes on.

I’d say about 1/3 at most of the times I used it (several times daily for three weeks) was successful on both feet. Usually it just binds up and you end up putting it on manually.

How does that work with your chair? Presumably if they need to prevent people from tracking stuff around with their shoes, they also need to prevent wheel tracking? Or is it more of a convenience thing than a hard rule?
I’m curious now how this works for people in clean rooms, etc. Does the chair get decont aminated somehow? Do they have to switch chairs as part of “ suiting up” process?

I don’t know. I’ve never tried. But I think it would be safer to just bend over and slide one on.

Which is not especially taxing.

In this facility it’s for people coming in from outside in work boots or for a couple of investigators that are picky about it for some reason.
When I was across town and my mice were in a tighter sterile facility I had set up a spray bottle of disinfectant to wipe down my tires every time I entered. Equipment or carts that came in had to be wiped down too. I had to wear hair net and mask too. It was overkill for the stuff I doing though. The immunology people or people using SCID mice had reasons though.

It’s a plot by the society of normal size footed folks to keep us big footed people down by forcing us to bend over in their presence when we need to put on booties I tell ya!!

And that’s when you’re vulnerable. It’s their chance.

Not at all. I do get the idea - when it does work, it’s very very fast compared to “
manually”
putting them on - the problem is the execution is far from reliable, and when it doesn’t work it takes way longer.
